94DR Edinburgh, Scotland
- a contemporary boutique B&B (the name comes from the address: 94 Dalkeith Road).
This super charming spot is own by the couple Paul Lightfoot and John MacEwan of which one of them, Paul, is a full trained chef. The breakfasts is different every morning and you can see that the couple have a passion for eating and enjoying the art of food. Both of them comes out chatting in the morning explaining why they put just a little bit of salt in the coffee before they brew it to get an extra dimension. With love they also explain the breakfast of poached eggs served with asparagus and the most delicious virgin oliv oil and the porridge with a compote of mixed berries. Everything taste divine.
Both Paul and John also know the city very well, partly since they are former restaurateurs and marketeers and are very keen in sharing really good tips of the area.
This seven-bedroom townhouse is situated in the city’s just-out-of-town Southside. The bedrooms are small but designed in a very clean and classy design with really nice bathrooms containing White Company toiletries. The small public spaced in the house is beautiful and have an extra touch. You can play your own music in docking stations and there is, of course, a Whisky cabinet (honesty bar) from where you can treat yourself what you want and note what you've taken in a notebook. There is also a library with stylish art and design books and magazines mixed with good travel literature.
According to me, everyone passing by Edinburgh should stay here. It will definitely make your visit a notch better!
